5 Must-See Places in the UK continuted…

In a previous blog we shared with you some of the must see places in the UK and we thought we’d share more. The United Kingdom has wonderful scenery and has preserved some of the world’s greatest architectural works. We wanted to share with you the beautiful countryside, excellent beaches, historical sites and vibrant cities. So here’s now to make the most of your time in the UK:

Buckingham Palace

This is the London based residences of the British Royal family and has been since 1837. Today the palace holds events such state visits and official ceremonies. The palace has a total of 775 rooms; some of these rooms are open to visitors, so take a tour! The palace has a gallery known as the Picture Gallery where you can view paintings owned by the Royal Family. One of the most popular events for tourist to view at the Palace is the changing of the guards. It’s a unique experience where the guards swap shifts in very stylised and traditional manner. The rite takes approximately 45 minutes and happens every day at 11:30 a.m. After seeing palace you can always take a walk through Hyde Park which surrounds the grounds.

This popular landmark located in Wiltshire, England, which was believed to have been constructed 5,000 years ago. It’s the remains of the stone structures built during prehistoric times and is believed to have served a monument. Today it’s a must see as its definitely a human phenomenon. Aside from the structure you can view prehistoric artifacts from the site, such as jewelry and tools. To make the trip special we recommend that you watch the sunset on this prehistoric landmark. To do this it’s advised to book in advance.

 Stratford-upon-Avon

This market town in Warwickshire England is located on the riverbanks of the river Avon. This picturesque town is a famous destination not only for its rural countryside but also as the well-known residences of William Shakespeare. It has various teashops and restaurants that offer delicious meals and old-fashioned cobbled streets where you can find unique shops. Stratford-upon-Avon is the perfect place to experience a truly English town.

 Edinburgh Castle

It’s one of the most famous tourist spots in Scotland. The iconic landmark dominates the city skyline and is the oldest structure in Edinburgh. The castle is built on an extinct volcano called the Castle Rock and in the past has served as a Royal residence and military headquarters. A must see, the Edinburgh Castle has daily firing of the One O’clock Gun, at exactly 13:00 hours (excludes Sunday, Good Friday and Christmas Day), where a traditional canon is fired to signal the time for ships to come into harbor. This has been tradition since 1861.

Peak District National Park

If you want to get a taste of true British countryside then the Peak District is the perfect place for you. It is located on the high grounds of England and is the first national park in the UK. This is a great place to go with family and friends. For hikers the park has many long trails to enjoy and for bikers you can rent a variety of bikes, from mountain bikes to tandem bikes. For those who love water the park also offers water sports facilities such as sailing, windsurfing, and canoeing. Other activities that you can do in the park include camping, rock climbing and horse riding. The Peak District is a prefect location for those adventurists and for those who just want a breath of fresh air.
