Basic Last Minute Tips For International Students On Their Way Abroad

It definitely can be both an exciting and stressful experience: a trip overseas to study. Once you have gotten your approved student visa, you will now need to get ready for your travel abroad and of course, your new life as an international student.

To help you start on this new adventure and valuable experience, below are useful tips that you can follow before your flight abroad:

  1. Make sure that your flight has been booked and the E-ticket issued correctly, according to your preference and with coordination with the expected date of arrival in your country of destination.
  2. Check the issuing airline’s permitted baggage allowance for all its passengers. And make sure that the weight of your luggage stays within the required allowances. Do not go over the limit since most airlines will let you pay for those excess baggage weight.
  3. Also, read over the items that you are allowed and will not be permitted to bring. Some airlines will not allow you to put certain items in the luggage you will check-in such as some dairy products. And if you were thinking or planning of bringing such products, forget about it.
  4. If you are on medication, bring a medical certificate issued by your doctor regarding your condition. Also, request some prescriptions from your doctor in case you will need to buy more of this medicine abroad.
  5. Change some of your money to the currency used in the country where you will study. If you will be going to the UK, bring some pounds; if to Spain, then some Euros.  If you will also be bringing your credit or debit card, make sure that you can use them abroad first by arranging this with your issuing bank. These are important things to remember since you cannot immediately open up a bank as soon as you land in the country of your destination.
  6. Lastly, make sure that your passport with your student visa and other important documents such as your college or university acceptance or enrollment letter and local or previously-issued credentials are in the bag you will hand-carry. All these documents will be checked at least twice during your journey so make sure that they are always at hand and at the same time, that you are carrying them safely and securely.
