Introducing the University of Hertfordshire

The University of Hertfordshire has been welcoming students from Zambia for many years and we were pleased to receive eight new students in last year’s intake. The students are studying a range of programmes in Business, Science and Engineering and are performing well in their first year in the UK. This year we have seen significant applications for our Environmental management programmes and hope to welcome those students in September. The students are enjoying life in the county

Hertfordshire but are also regular visitors to the attractions of London that is only 25 minutes away by train. Their parents seem to appreciate our competitive pricing and have the peace of mind that there children are studying on the safest campus in the South East of England (London region).

University of HertfordshireThe University was originally founded as a technical college for the local aerospace engineering industry, and one of our campuses is built on the site of the famous 20th century aircraft manufacture      De Havilland Aircrafts who produced the world’s first commercial  jet liner, the Comet. We were also the first UK University to teach Computer science when it was a new subject in the 1960s and still enjoy strength in both Computer Science and Aerospace engineering. We have continued to build on our rich heritage, teaching innovative industry focused courses that have a significant vocational content designed to make students immediately ‘work ready’ upon graduation.

In the 21st Century we are proud of being a new type of university – innovative, enterprising and business-facing with a commitment to adding value to employers, enterprise, regional and national economies. All our students have the opportunity to complete a full year of work experience with a UK employer. In addition to providing valuable work experience, students can earn a salary which is always helpful with the bills!
We take a flexible approach to learning including guest lectures from Industry professionals who provide valuable links into employment and vocational elements teaching practical work skills. This keeps our courses up to date with industry developments, making the content fresh and forward looking and above all we hope, enjoyable to study! We have a 93% employability rate, which suggest we must be doing something right!
We hope to welcome many more Zambian students in the future, who have proved hard working and significantly contribute to our cosmopolitan campus to life.
